Here and Settled...

After many a long flight, I have finally made the boat home once again.

So here is my flight plan - I flew Emirates Airlines, which is rather amazing {they sport a rather lovely group of staff - easy on the eyes :) }. Durban to Dubai was the first leg - the longest of the three. I had a 4 hour layover, so first stop Starbucks {YES PLEASE}, and then a large amount of window shopping. I tend to get very hungry when flying - so Food was next on the layover agenda. After all that I sat and read my book while waiting to board {Currently reading Fault in our Stars - John Greene (Brilliant)}.

Dubai to Rome was next , not too bad a flight - I managed to catch a few zzz's. Once in Rome I had to collect my luggage and then re-check in for the last flight to Olbia {Missions}. Anyway when checking in I had to hide one of my carry on pieces { as you are only allowed one with a domestic flight - I had two as was travelling internationally } this worked and I was able to catch my last flight. To be Completely honest - worst flight I have ever been on - seriously thought I might die. The pilot did a horrendous job flying and landing the plane.

However I am alive and well, happy to be back in the land of Pizza, Pasta and all things fattening... I am all settled in - finally have a local number once again, and internet connection so can keep everyone updated.

hidden so I would only find in when I unpacked}

 {My mum gave me this little Superhero last year when I left, she wants me to travel with him and take pictures everywhere I go,

 Once I arrived in Porto Rotondo, I had to eat at my favourite restaurant - Tartarughina ( English translation - little turtle), Most often I will have the Spaghetti alla vongole, never fails me.

From Tuesday until Today (Friday), I have been busy settling in and trying to organize comms. This weekend is the Porto Rotondo Boat Show - all is set up extremely well, and looks beautiful. I am super excited for this weekend and Sunday. I am heading to Rome for a couple days, to sightsee a little more but mainly to watch Queens of the Stone Age play at Rock in Roma, almost as excited as I was for Incubus two years ago.

Until next time  - Live Long and Prosper!

Saying Goodbye...

Goodbyes are never the easiest, and they are definitely not fun. The past few days have been hard, knowing that I am leaving {like I do every year}, but this time I won't be coming home for a while. When you have to leave your friends and family behind it's difficult - even with the internet and Skype it is never the same.

My Close friend, her gorgeous son {my godchild} and her family were the first to bid me farewell, the evening started off wonderfully - full of laughs.

On Friday evening I had a small farewell with drinks and chats at our local bar, it was lovely seeing the friends again.

On Saturday we had a famdamily shindig, where we all came together for a lovely South African Braai and a good few laughs.

I'm Leaving soon ....

In four days I shall be on the plane heading back to Sardinia, Italy. This will be my fourth stint on board one of the Superyachts based there. Usually I will work for 6 months and then come home back to South Africa until the season starts again, but this time I am planning a Eurotrip  - basically just travelling as much as I can in Europe, maybe even hit up Thailand and Indonesia.

I am pretty keen for this new adventure, traveling alone - I think is my biggest fear. I've always traveled with someone, but now that we are no longer together I have to put my 'big girl panties' on and get moving. There are so many places I want to see and things I want to do. If I start now I will have a good few years to spend traveling. {Excited much ?!}

One of my favourite parts about traveling is the airports, not so much the layovers but the feeling you get when you check in, knowing that in a few hours you will be in a totally different country, with new people to meet, foods to taste and life to experience. Then there is the flight itself, I have always enjoyed flying (not so much the taking off and landing) but the experience itself, its always different - the air hostesses are super friendly, the food is never bad, and they have up to date films and series - so I am never bored.

When traveling I do miss my family and friends a lot, but I'm pretty sure they are happy that I am doing what I love. I can't wait to be back in Europe/Italy, it is so very gorgeous. So the time is nearly here - countdown has begun. All that's left is for the packing to start {Missions!}, but always fun.

In the picture below - this was my first time flying out of SA - leaving home, friends and family behind. That's me of course and the handsome man is my Closest Friend, {we work together }, This was taken in May 2011 at the Milan airport.

First Time Blogger...

Hello!

The Name's Kate-Lynne, I am new to the blogging world. I was told that a blog would be the best way to document my travels. So here I am - Giving it a bash.

I am a born and bred South African, I love good coffee and wish to travel the world making new memories. On this here blog I will be sharing my experiences with you, as well as documenting my Bucket list as I complete each task/Challenge.

If I could travel, drink coffee and eat good food, without having to work another day - my life would be complete. :)

SO....

  • I don't have hundreds of followers on Twitter, or my own fan club.
  • I don't have my own fashion line.
  • I don't have 20 years of experience.
  • I do not have any sort of degree in this department.
Please bear with me as I learn the ways of the Blogging world.
